Originally called View from My Window, this was the upstairs view from Max Pechstein’s guest room in the Hess house. Painted sometime between 6th and 18th April 1919, during one of many visits Pechstein made to the Hess family home in Erfurt. The visit is recorded in the visitors book and is one of the entries reproduced in Dank in Farben, (Thanks in Colours). It is also listed in the 1944 exhibition catalogue by the original title.
